Privacy policy
The short version
This website has no forms, no analytics, no ads and no tracking cookies.
I only get your details if you book a call, email me, or work with me.
I use them to talk to you and do the work. I never sell them.
Want your details deleted? Email michael@michaeldance.au with "Delete my data" in the subject.
Who I am
This site and the services on it are run by me, Michael Dance. I'm a sole trader. I don't have a company or a registered business name.
Michael Dance, sole trader. ABN 40 524 278 158. Hobart TAS 7005, Australia. Email: michael@michaeldance.au.
I'm a small business, so the Australian Privacy Principles may not legally apply to me. I follow them anyway, because it's the right way to handle your information.
What I collect
When you visit this website
- The site has no forms, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels. It sets no cookies of its own.
- My host, Cloudflare, handles the technical data every website needs. That includes your IP address, browser type and the pages you load. Cloudflare uses it to deliver the site and block attacks.
- The fonts load from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to get them, so Google sees your IP address.
When you book a call
- Bookings go through Cal.com. You give them your name, email, the time you pick and anything you type in the notes.
- Cal.com passes those details to me so I can run the call.
When you email or message me
- Your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell me.
When you work with me
- Your contact details and business details, like your role, team size and the tools you use.
- What you tell me about how your business runs. This is what the AI Time Audit is built from.
- Call recordings and transcripts, but only if you say yes at the start of the call. You can say no and we'll take notes instead.
- Invoices and payment records. If you pay by card through a payment link, Stripe processes the payment. I never see your full card number.
- Logins to your business tools, only if you choose to give me access to set something up. I'd rather you add me as a user than share a password.
I don't ask for anything I don't need. Please don't send me health information, ID numbers or bank details unless I've specifically asked for them.
How I use it
- To reply to you and run the calls you book.
- To write your report, build what you've paid for and support it afterwards.
- To send invoices, keep tax records and meet my legal duties.
- To send you emails about my services, only if you've asked for them. Every one has an easy way to unsubscribe.
I don't sell your information. I don't use it for advertising. I don't use your business details to train AI models.
Who else handles it
I use a few service providers to run my business. They handle your information on my behalf.
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Website hosting and security. Forwarding email sent to my address. | Global network, including outside Australia |
| Website fonts. My business email inbox. | Outside Australia, mainly the US | |
| Resend | Sending email from my address | Outside Australia, mainly the US |
| Cal.com | Booking calls | Outside Australia, mainly the US |
| Fathom | Recording and transcribing calls, only with your consent | Outside Australia, mainly the US |
| AI model providers | Turning call notes and transcripts into your report | Outside Australia, mainly the US |
| Stripe | Card payments, if you pay by payment link | Australia and overseas |
| My accounting software | Invoices and tax records | Australia and overseas |
Because most of these providers are overseas, your information may be stored or accessed outside Australia, mostly in the United States. I pick providers with solid security and I set up AI tools so they don't train on what I send them, where the tool allows it.
I'll only share your information with anyone else if you agree, or if the law requires it.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don't turn into work: deleted within 12 months.
- Call recordings and transcripts: deleted within 90 days of your report being delivered.
- Invoices and payment records: kept for 5 years, because tax law requires it.
- Everything else from a project: kept while we work together, then deleted within 12 months of the work ending, unless you ask me to keep it.
Your choices: see it, fix it, delete it
You can ask me to show you what I hold about you, correct it, or delete it.
Email michael@michaeldance.au. Use "Delete my data", "Show my data" or "Fix my data" in the subject line. Tell me the name and email you used.
I'll reply within 30 days. There's no charge. I'll delete your details from my own records and from the providers above, like Cal.com and Fathom. The only thing I can't delete early is a record the law says I must keep, like a tax invoice. I'll tell you if that applies.
Keeping it safe
My accounts use strong passwords and two-factor sign-in. I keep client information in business accounts, not personal ones. If something goes wrong and your information is exposed, I'll tell you quickly and tell you what I'm doing about it.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, email me first and I'll try to fix it within 30 days.
If you're still not happy, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au (opens in a new tab).
Changes
If I change how I handle your information, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If it's a big change and I have your email, I'll tell you directly.
